There are days when we feel that we just can’t get make any head way with our work because our brain is tired and our body is just too exhausted to do anything else. Many of us just push on with our day-to-day activities but this can lead to health issues if we are not too careful. One way to help rejuvenate your senses and to heal your tired body is to set aside a day for your DIY spa.
Here are a few tips to pull this off.
Remove disruptions. If you want to pamper yourself for a day, give your family a heads up early on. This way, they will know not to bother you as you spend time taking care of yourself. Don’t forget to turn off your gadgets too or at least put them in silent so you won’t get distracted.
Make your own hydrating mask. Our skin can feel dry and dull after a long day or when it is constantly exposed to cold or hot temperatures. The good news is that you can rejuvenate your skin by making your own hydrating mask. Just blend some cold cream, honey, avocado, aloe vera gel, and some yogurt. Apply the mixture on your face and neck evenly and allow to sit for 15 minutes. Wash afterwards with cool water then pat dry.
Create the mood. Another tip that you should consider when doing your at-home spa is for you to set the mood. Prepare your essential oil diffuser, candles, and what not in your chosen space to get you in the right mood. If you want to stay relaxed, diffuse some lavender and rose scents so you can feel your worries dissipate.
Deep condition with coconut oil. Don’t forget to care for your hair too when you’re doing your spa day. Sometimes we forget that our hair needs some TLC too so why not deep condition your locks with some coconut oil? Coconut oil contains healthy fats and protein that are essential for hair growth and hair health. You can apply it on your scalp and hair and leave it on for half an hour or, if your hair is damaged, leave it on overnight while securing your hair with a warm towel or shower cap. The coconut oil will be able to penetrate your scalp deeply where it can do its work from the inside.
Make your own detox water. If you want to make the most out of your DIY spa day at home, why not prepare your own detox drink which you can sip as you relax and unwind? Adding a few slices of lemon in a pitcher of water can help improve your immune system, boost digestion, and enhance your skin. There are other detox water recipes to try out such as berries and basil in water or raspberries and lemon in water. You choose which one works for you best.
Exfoliate with sugar scrub. You can also do a sugar scrub if you want to enjoy your spa day further. The good news is that you don’t have to buy prepackaged sugar scrubs because you can make one on your own. You will need a cup of olive oil, a cup of brown sugar, and a cup of raw oatmeal. To make this scrub, simply combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and apply on your skin. Scrub the mixture using circular motions all over your body to help remove dead skin cells that are dulling your skin.
