Applying blush on the apples of our cheeks can give us that pinkish glow that adds to our overall beauty and even give us that shy blush when we’re talking to someone that we admire. However, you can only pull this off properly, if you choose the right blush based on your skin tone.
We all have made the mistake of choosing a blush because of its color and not because of our skin tone which is why we often end up looking amusing rather than stunning. With that being said, there are some tips that you should take into consideration when choosing the best blush based on your skin tone.
Fair skin tone
Those with fair skin should stick to hues such as soft pink, coral, and peach as these will give their skin a more natural look. It would be a good idea to use blushes that are creamy in texture so you can have that natural finish without going overboard. To apply the blush, simply tap the color on your cheeks lightly using your fingers or use a duo-fiber brush to spread the blush on. Make sure that you don’t put too much as it can look unnatural.
Medium skin tone
For women whose skin tone falls in the medium range, a better shade for you should be between deep pink and apricot. Blushes that come in different shades of peach will give your skin that rosy glow without looking out of place. Although the shades are somewhat similar to those fair skinned individuals, when it comes to medium skinned beauties, deepening the shade can actually bring the color out to the point that it will reflect naturally on your medium skin tone. Again, avoid putting too much as it can look out of place and will cause eyes to center on your cheeks rather than your overall features. If your skin tone is leaning towards the olive shade, skip the plums as it can make your skin appear sallow.
Dark skin tone
The soft to deeper shades of pink may not work well with women who have dark skin tone as the colors won’t appear too much. The trick to give your cheeks that natural glow is to opt for blushes that fall in the deep shades of orange, red, and brown as they will certainly pop out when applied. Compared to softer hues for blushes, these ones will give your cheeks that radiant glow that you’ve always wanted without making you look comical in the process. If your dark skin tone is warm, opt for fuchsia while those with cooler skin tone can go for bold tangerines to give your cheeks their warmth. To apply the blush, simply sweep your blusher across your cheek and deepen the shade using circular motion. Sweep outwards and upwards to give that nice hue to your cheeks.Â
Now that you have an idea on which shades to choose based on your skin tone, here are a few tips on how to apply your blush to give your cheeks that beautiful glow:
HD ready
If you will have your picture taken or someone will take your video, look for blushes that are matte in shade so it won’t look harsh under the bright lights. This texture will give your skin a more natural look.
Sculpted cheeks
Look at yourself in the mirror and do a fish face before applying the blush on the hollows of your cheeks. Use an angled blush brush to sweep the blush by starting at the top of the ear then sweeping downwards under your cheeks. This will give your cheeks more definition.
