We are no strangers when it comes to stress as we often feel it on a daily basis. From our house, to work, and everything in between, even the tiniest thing can add to the amount of stress that we experience. For most of us, we simply tend to ignore the stress that we feel but sooner or later we will reap the side effects of this health condition in the form of illness, mood swings, and the like. This is why experts recommend that we find outlets for us to relieve the stress that is building up inside of us. You can go traveling if you like, meditate, or even take a walk in the park or in a forest. If you want, you can also do yoga poses at home to feel relief immediately. Here are some yoga poses that can reduce your stress levels efficiently.
Bridge pose
In this exercise, you should lie down on the floor on your back with your knees bent so that your feet will be on the floor and apart at the same width as your hips. Keep your hands on your sides with palms on the floor. Inhale as you push your feet down on the floor while raising your hips up. Your knees should remain hip-width apart as much as possible. Press down on your arms as well as your shoulders to help you raise hips further while bringing your chest up too. Hold this pose for 4 to 8 breaths then release as you exhale. Do 10 reps.
Standing forward fold
If you want to be able to quiet your mind with all the stress that you are going through, the standing forward fold is something that you should do. From standing pose, bend your knees, as you tighten your core a bit, hinge at the waist to bend forward as you place your hands along or in front of your feet. Move your weight to the balls of your feet until you can feel your sit bones moving upward. If you have tight hamstrings, your knees should remain bent so that you won’t injure your lower back. Hold on to each elbow using opposite hand as you soften your jaw, eyes, mind, neck, as well as head. Stay in this position for a few breaths or longer.
Child’s pose
Another yoga pose that will help you feel relief from stress is the child’s pose. To do this exercise, you need to kneel on your mat as you sit back on your heels. Now bend forward so that your chest will be on your thighs with your forehead pressed on the floor. Let your shoulders curl as your hands rest on either side of you with your palms facing up. Hold this pose for about five breaths. This posture can actually reduce your stress levels so that your mind will be still.
Reclined bound angle pose
In this yoga pose, you should lie back down on your mat. Bring the soles of your feet together while your knees are out to your sides. If you are having trouble bringing your knees down to the floor, you can place some bolsters, blocks, or even blankets under your knees so that you will be in a resting position. Place one hand on the center of your heart with the other one at the belly. This will help you stay connected with yourself. Stay in this pose for some time until you are ready to move.Â
These yoga poses are guaranteed to help alleviate your stress levels in just a few minutes. With practice, you will feel a huge relief from all your troubles.
