However, these homemade crispy delights also go very well with pasta, pizza, salad or just about anything else that is normally served with tomatoes.

Every serving of it is loaded with an antioxidant called lycopene that is scientifically-proven to effectively fight off cancer cells. There are loads and loads of vitamin C present, too, which is a nutrient so important for strengthening the immune system. Are you excited to surprise your family and friends and even yourself with your very first batch of tomato chips? Put on your apron and read on. Here’s the very easy-to-follow recipe:

Ingredients:

2 to 3 large-sized firm tomatoes

2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

Finely-ground black pepper

Kosher salt

Directions:

-Using a sharp knife, carefully chop up tomatoes into thin slices — the thinner the slices, the better. 

-Place several pieces of kitchen paper on a large serving tray. Arrange tomato slices neatly on it. 

-Sprinkle kosher salt and allow tomatoes to stand for 15 minutes. 

-In the meantime, get your oven preheated to 250°F — that’s equivalent to 120°C. 

-After the 15 minutes have passed, grab another serving tray and line it with several pieces of kitchen paper. 

-One by one, transfer sliced tomatoes on it, this time facing downwards. 

-Sprinkle a little kosher salt. Let stand for about 5 minutes. 

-Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Transfer tomato slices on it, shaking off kosher salt. 

-Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle a little finely-ground black pepper. 

-Bake them for about 6 to 8 hours — yes, that’s how long it takes for tomato chips to cook to perfection! 

-It’s a good idea to check every 3 hours or so. 

-If you want your homemade tomato chips a bit moist, bake for only 6 hours. Otherwise, let them bake for 8 full hours. 

-Allow to cool on a wire rack for an hour, and then serve or transfer to an airtight container.
