DIY Remedies for Psoriasis on Scalp

Must read

Psoriasis is a skin condition that can affect all parts of the body, including your scalp. This type of psoriasis is often characterized by red, scaly patches that are itchy and painful to the touch. It might be that the scaly patch can appear on a small part of your scalp or a large part of your scalp. Either way, having psoriasis on your scalp can be uncomfortable. It’s still unclear as to what causes psoriasis to occur on the scalp but what’s important is that you find a way to alleviate the problem. The good news is that there are several home remedies that you can use to get relief from the itching and redness and these are:

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a great home remedy to use on scalp psoriasis because of its anti-inflammatory properties. Applying this solution on the affected parts can minimize the soreness as well as irritation on the skin. Another plus to using ACV is that it can reduce infections from forming so there will be minimal chance of flare ups to occur. You will need to mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with half a cup of water. Now use a Q-tip to apply this solution on the scaly parts of your scalp.

Olive oil

Olive oil is a good addition to your diet because of its nutritional value but there are other uses to this ingredient and one of them is to help soothe and treat psoriasis on the scalp. You can create a mask by using 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive oil and apply it on your hair and scalp. Leave it on for 10 minutes or even overnight if you like. The effects will be amazing for sure.

Glycerin

Another possible treatment to use on your scalp psoriasis is glycerin. What’s great about this product is that it is a great emollient and humectant which can actually repair and rejuvenate your skin. All that you have to do is apply this ingredient on the dry patches on your scalp then leave it on for the entire night. Now rinse your hair in the morning and you will see some significant improvements to your scalp.

Oatmeal

There is no doubt that oatmeal is a good choice for breakfast but it can also be used to alleviate scalp psoriasis too. You can either make an oatmeal bath to soothe any rashes, chickenpox, and poison ivy just to name a few. You can also use it to soothe psoriasis on your scalp because it has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce the appearance of dry and scaly skin on your head. Just mix some uncooked oatmeal with a bit of water until you have created a paste then apply on your hair and scalp. Leave it for a few minutes then rinse afterwards.
