Common cold happens to each and every one of us at some point in our lives. It is something inevitable. Most of the time common colds are caused due to the lifestyle we keep. If you are the type to stay up late and over work yourself, then the chances of you getting a common cold is very high. Common colds are usually not so severe in nature. However, if let to escalate out of control, this could land you in the hospital in no time. The flu is somewhat the same in nature in reference to common colds. Most of us who experience flus can’t really tell the difference from flus and common colds, usually when the weather is a lot cooler, this is when the human body is most prone to a common cold. Now, how do we prevent our bodies from contacting a common cold.

The main cause of a common cold is usually a virus. This virus initiates at some point and gets pass around. Just like every other virus that goes around, sometimes it’s inevitable to contact it. Given that everyone around you is constantly spreading said virus.

Ways on how we can protect ourselves from colds and flu

Observing proper hygiene is one of the ways you can prevent a common cold. Practice washing your hands whenever you get the chance to. Keep your hands away from your nose and eyes and mouth. This is because the virus gets spread around on contact. If you also have someone around you with the virus, it is wise to advise them to cover their mouths whenever the sneeze. Every time a person with a flu or a common cold sneezes, they pass around the germ through said process.

Now you have a common cold, how do you go about it, and how do you protect others around you from getting it.

If you are unlucky enough to come down with a cold or a flu, don’t be alarmed for it is not the end of the world. A common cold can be left alone to die down by itself. If it doesn’t go in 3 to 5 days, then it is advised to visit your local physician. If you do not want to be phased by your health and would love to continue with your everyday activities, then you can also do so. However, it would be nice to keep the people around you in mind, knowing that you are carrying a contagious virus inside of you.

– Use alcohol from time to time, this is because the virus spreads through contact.

– Whenever you find yourself sneezing or coughing it is advised to move away from people because that too is spreading the virus.

-Don’t share any of your personal items. Sick or not, it is not advised to share things like cups, toothbrushes and its likes. This is because you do not want to contact anything, and if you already have something. You would not want to spread the virus amongst others.

The road to recovery

Common colds are very easy to treat. Most of the time the reason why you have a common cold is your body telling you that your immune system is low. Eating healthy is one of the ways you can protect yourself from a common cold. Eating foods like fruits and staying hydrated, these is something you would want to do when you have a common cold. There are bad bacteria, also there are good bacteria’s, these bacteria’s go inside your body and basically perform the opposite of what bad bacteria’s do. Yogurt happens to be part of the good bacteria family. Eating yogurt will help boost your good bacteria could which in general will allow you to stay healthy.

A change in lifestyle would also be recommended by a doctor if you had to see one. You would want to sleep on time and not over work your body. This Is because when your body becomes over worked your immune system diminishes, this allows bacteria’s to get into your system at ease. Take lots of vitamins. Vitamins help us with our daily activities, giving us the energy to go about your day. When you have a cold or a flu, your body is entirely week. Reinforcing your system with vitamins like vitamin c and its likes will help your body combat that common cold.

Stress is the biggest killer in the world. This is highly ignored and it shouldn’t. Keeping your stress levels in check is one of the most effective ways to go about preventing a common cold. Make sure to take that extra time to have a break, sleep for an hour longer if you have to. All these can be used to prevent your body from having a cold a flu or any other minor illnesses.
