No Heat Pretty Curls

Must read

Curled hair looks great on everybody, no matter the length, hair color and hair type. Heat is one of the leading causes of hair damage. Using blow dryers, curlers or straighteners over time will damage the hair and make it prone to breakage. Thankfully, there are now numbers of ways to curl your hair without using heat. Get loose curls, vintage waves, tight curls, natural waves and other curls with these easy to do no heat curl techniques.

TWIST CURLS

Wash your hair with shampoo and prevent using conditioner. Towel dry your hair until it is just slightly damp. Comb your hair, if your hair is still dripping water towel dry again and comb. Section your hair from your preferred part. If you prefer parting your hair to the left section that off and twist it away from your face. Now create a tiny bun with this twisted section and secure with a bobby pin or hair band. Your hair will look like a 90’s flashback.

Leave the buns in your hair until it is completely dry. It’s best to do these before you go to sleep. You can wake up to natural looking no heat curls.

The trick here is the more sections you have the tighter the curls will be. If you have fewer sections the hair will be wavy. The tightness of the twist will also change the appearance of the curl. The tighter the twist the more curled it will be.

PIN CURLS

This is a classic technique used in the 20’s and 40’s all you’ll need are bobby pins or duck clips, a lot of them. Damp your hair and create your parting. Take a square inch from your hair and create a swirl with it, it will look like cinnamon rolls. Place your finger in the middle of the roll and take out your pin or clip. Clip that section off and make sure that it’s secure. If you’re using bobby pins place it an x formation to prevent from falling out while you sleep. Your hair will look something like this.

ROLLERS

Old school rollers are great in creating volume and loose curls on the hair. All you need are a bunch of rollers and bobby pins. The size of the rollers depends on you, the bigger the roller the looser the curls are. You can also try to use two sizes of rollers for different curls. You can do this on dry or damp hair.

Damp Hair:

Apply mousse on your hair and section it to the size of the rollers. Place the roller in the middle of the hair shaft and slowly slide it to the ends of the hair and roll it towards your roots. Pin the roller in place with a bobby pin. Sleeping with it on can be tricky, but with practice you’ll get the hang of it.

The same procedure applies with dry hair, but instead of applying mousse on damp hair you spray on hairspray after you place in all the rollers.

HANDKERCHIEF OR SCARF CURLS

This technique will create waves in the hair using a scarf (long hair) or handkerchief (short to medium length hair). This very simple, all you will need is a few scarves or handkerchief and hair bands. Section your hair and tie a knot using the handkerchief on the part of your hair where you want your wave to start. Now wrap your hair in a zigzag pattern between your handkerchiefs. Continue doing this until you reach the ends of your hair and tie it off with a hairband. You can apply styling mousse in your hair before wrapping it in the handkerchief or you can do this on damp hair, but doing this will create really strong waves. When you finally do this to all the sections in your hair it will look like this:
