Makeup Mistakes We’re All Guilty Of

Must read

Wearing makeup is part of a woman’s daily regimen especially when she leaves the house to run errands or go to work. Most follow the rules on wearing makeup but there are times when we just can’t be bothered by any of them. Unfortunately, breaking makeup rules can have some serious effects on our skin that we are sure to regret later on.

Regardless of whether you are just starting to learn how to work with your makeup or you consider yourself a pro, these makeup mistakes that we make should be corrected and fast.

You’re blush is too low on your face. Who doesn’t want to have rosy cheeks? Adding blush is meant to make your cheeks look rosy naturally but putting too much, especially low on your cheeks will only make your face look overdone. The best way to solve this is to use a brush for contouring so you can place the blush on the apples of your cheeks which is more natural looking.

Using too much face powder. It’s a common practice to apply some face powder once you are done with applying your foundation but too much of it can actually make your face look older. The fine powder can easily settle between the lines and cracks of your skin which can only highlight those skin blemishes you are trying to hide. You only need to apply your face powder on your T-zone and some on your cheeks to minimize the shine on your face.

Applying lipstick on your naked lips. Most of us simply swipe lipstick when retouching our makeup but experts said that this won’t help make your lipstick color last and that there is also a risk of drying your lips. The best approach to this is to apply a light face moisturizer first then leave it for a few minutes for your lips to absorb. Afterwards, you can apply your lipstick without worrying about dry lips because your lips now have enough moisture in them.

Over lining the eyes. Eye liners do come in handy especially with women who have small eyes as they create the illusion of making your eyes look bigger than usual. What’s great about this makeup is that it comes in various colors and can be applied in different ways. The only problem is that we have a tendency of over exaggerating which means that we might end up with dark circles around the eyes. If you want to make your eyes look bigger, just apply some eye shadow at the bottom lashes then smudge it using a brush to give your lashes more definition.

Using sponge or finger when applying foundation. This is probably one of the most common mistakes that women make when it comes to applying foundation. Just like with blushes, eye shadows, and the like, investing on the right tool can deliver excellent results. Stop using your fingers or even a sponge when applying foundation but rather use a foundation brush for a more even application.

Not setting the concealer. Concealer is heaven sent for those days when there are dark circles under your eyes but they tend to have a creamy finish which can cake in the latter part of the day. The best solution for this is to set your concealer with a light brushing of translucent powder. This will effectively hide your concealer and make your under eyes look bright throughout the day.

These are just a few examples of makeup mistakes that we are all guilty of. Fortunately, these habits of ours can be easily corrected.
