Makeup and Beauty Product You Shouldn’t Splurge On

Must read

Buying and using new products gives us such a satisfying feeling. It’s one of those things that most girls understand. Opening up a new box and being able to touch it for the first time is different when you’ve used it before. However, buying something new beauty and makeup products can be pricy. We tend to splurge on these items believing that the higher the price the more effective it will be. This mindset is helping big companies increasing the price of their items and burning a hole in your wallet. The truth is there are a lot of items that you don’t really need to splurge on, but probably are. If you are really into beauty and makeup products keep these items in mind the next time you plan to splurge on.

Breast Enhancing Creams

We’ve seen this a lot in social media. Stars advertising creams that are said to boost your breast by a cup or more. These topical creams may seem like a dream for people that want to increase their bust size without going under the knife. However, these creams can do very little to increase your bust size. Some can help tighten the skin, making the breast appear larger and perkier. If you really want to consider increasing your bust some hormones can help, but none of them can really give you that one cup increase.

Cellulite Creams

Cellulite is incredibly tricky. Removing it can be a huge pain – and yes cellulite creams do work. However, most of these cellulite creams are expensive. If used for a long period of time the skin does appear smoother and cellulite free. Though, most of this is only on the outside. If you continue with unhealthy eating habits your cellulite will remain and can still be visible once you stop using these creams. You can buy cellulite creams for occasions such as going to the beach or is planning to wear a short dress for a certain occasion. However, if you really plan to get rid of cellulite permanently. You have to put in some effort into eating healthy and exercise. There really is no quick fix for this issue.

Primer Oil

This is a new product in the market and as we all know, anything new can be tempting to buy. This is when the habit of reading ingredients really works. Primers are made to help prep the skin and help makeup last longer. Primer oils that contain the same ingredients of facial oil are not something you should be splurging on. Facial oils are great products, but this product is not really applicable to most skin types. Primer oils can also do the opposite effect of normal primer. It can make the skin too oily causing makeup to fade faster and harder to blend.

CC or DD Cream

BB creams are essentially tinted moisturizer that can give coverage to the skin. It does have a lot of benefit and is a lot lighter than foundation. Though, with so many variations of this product that promise clearer skin, anti-aging and so on. It would be a lot better for you to just invest in a good skin care line. This will have a stronger effect on the skin than this type of creams. If you already have BB cream, you don’t really need the other types of cream.

Dry Conditioner

If you like using dry shampoo and considering getting dry conditioner think again. Most of the time, we use dry shampoo to remove excess grease in our hair and to make it bouncy. So applying a dose of dry conditioner to your hair isn’t really a good idea. You might as well just wash your hair completely. If you really want to get softer hair, try to reduce the amount of dry shampoo you’re using. Use your natural oils to soften the hair.

Eyeshadow Pallets

One of our guiltiest pleasure is buying pallets of eyeshadows with dozens of shades from them and buying the next version of it. This is really a huge waste of money because buying too much eyeshadow is not ideal unless you are a professional makeup artist, actress or use Avant garde makeup every day. When are you going to use all 60 shades of eyeshadow. It’s better to stick to ones that you know you will use and use cheaper versions of the color you just want to experiment on.

You can live without these items, but if you really choose to have them at home – just know that it doesn’t have to cost a lot. Some brands are great with producing these items at a lower cost and have the same effect. If you really want to save some money you can check out DIY versions of these items and try to alter them to your skin type or preference. Just remember that products do not have to be expensive to be effective.
