Get Beautiful Nails with Coconut Oil

Must read

Our nails deserve to be pampered and cared for if we want to have beautiful and strong nails. There are many factors that can contribute to making our nails brittle and dry such as constant exposure to water, lack of vitamins and minerals, and even using our nails as tools when opening bottles and what not. Since nails are made up of keratin, lack of water in our body can also affect the way our nails look. Fortunately, you can bring back the health of your nails with a little help from coconut oil. Here’s how:

Coconut oil for nail fungus

Nail fungus can cause our nails to become crumbly and brittle hence you need to nip the problem at the bud. There are topical creams that can be used for this nail infection but you can also use coconut oil if you want a natural remedy to get rid of the fungus. Coconut oil can get rid of the infection thanks to its antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. You will need to mix 5 parts coconut oil with 1 part oregano oil, mix thoroughly, then apply on your infected nail or nails. Massage gently then leave it on for a few minutes for the oil to be absorbed. Wash your nails thoroughly afterwards.

Coconut oil for moisturizing

Another way that coconut oil can help with your nails is that it moisturizes your cuticles. Locking in the moisture on your nails can make them shinier, healthier, and stronger too. All that you have to do is to apply a small amount of coconut oil on your nails, massage them gently, and leave it on afterwards. Do this regularly and your ragged cuticles will look better in no time.

You can also use coconut oil to speed up your nail growth. To make this treatment, you will need to combine ¼ cup each of honey and organic virgin coconut oil and 4 drops of rosemary oil in a small bowl. Heat the mixture for a few seconds then soak your nails in it for 15 to 20 minutes. Make sure that the mixture is lukewarm when dipping your nails. Do this treatment 2 to 4 times a week.

Coconut oil for treating ridges

When there isn’t enough moisture in your nails, you will develop ridges. By applying coconut oil on your nails regularly, you will be able to prevent and keep the ridges away. This is a good habit to practice as we tend to moisturize our nails.

Coconut oil for brittle nail

Brittle nail can be troublesome for us especially when it snags on our clothing. Fortunately, coconut oil can help strengthen our nails so that they won’t easily break. Start by mincing some garlic cloves then add them to lukewarm coconut oil. Stir them well then soak your nails for a few minutes. Rinse afterwards with warm water then dry them completely. Resoak your nails as needed.

Coconut oil for athlete’s foot

Athlete’s foot can cause pain and discomfort especially when wearing shoes but you don’t have to let it get the best of you because you can use coconut oil to treat it. Wash your feet first then dry them thoroughly. Warm some coconut oil then massage it on your nails. You need to repeat this 3 to 5 times a day to get relief from athlete’s foot.
