Effective Remedies to Whitening Dark Underarms

Must read

Dark underarms can prevent us from showing off our arms in strapless or sleeveless tops. You’ve probably hidden your underarms forever for fear of being ridiculed. Some have even gone to great lengths by spending a lot on whitening creams and treatments just to alleviate their dark patch of skin under their arms. But do you really have to?

We may be forgetting that natural ingredients can play a huge role to whatever skin issue that we may be having, and that includes your dark underarms. If you want to be free from having to wear sleeved tops all the time, then these natural remedies may just be the ones you need.

Baking soda and lemon

Lemon is known as a natural cleanser, and when you mix with baking soda, what you’ll get is a scrub that can help whiten your dark underarms. All that you have to do is to prepare a small amount of baking soda then add some fresh lemon juice to it. Combine the ingredients until you create a paste then rub under your arms for 2 to 3 minutes. Wash it off afterwards. This can be done once or twice in a week to speed up the whitening process.

Milk and honey

Another possible solution for your dark underarms is to use milk and honey. Milk has been often used to lighten one’s skin for ages and is known for its ability to hydrate, soothe, and exfoliate the skin. In the case of honey, it is chockful of antioxidants and it is also soothing and moisturizing too. You will need a tablespoon each of honey and milk, then add some lime juice or a pinch of turmeric powder if you like, then apply under your arms. Leave it for a few minutes then rinse off.

Sugar and coconut oil scrub

Sometimes the dark pigmentation under our arms is due to the buildup of dead skin cells that have remained on the surface of the skin. Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem and that is to prepare a coconut oil and sugar scrub. Simply combine a small amount of the oil with a teaspoon of sugar, then massage gently under your arms for a few minutes. Wash it off afterwards. You can repeat this once or twice a week.

Turmeric

This spice may be useful in the kitchen, but when it comes to your skin, it is actually an effective tool for whitening your skin. What it does is to reduce the amount of melanin that the body is producing to help prevent darkened skin. However, if you are going to use this natural remedy or any whitening solution that has turmeric in it, stay away from direct sunlight as much as possible. This is to prevent dark spots and sunburn from happening.

Baking soda

Baking soda alone can also be good for helping whiten your dark underarms. All it takes is just a few tablespoons of baking soda mixed with some water until you create a paste. Rub the paste under your arms in a circular motion for a few minutes then wash it off. This solution can be done 3 to 4 times in a week.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is known for its nourishing and moisturizing properties, but it can also be used to help lighten your skin as well. Apply this oil under your arms before you take a bath. Another way to use this ingredient is to mix it with some baking soda before rubbing gently into your skin. Wash it off afterwards. You can do this several times in a week to help lighten your dark under arms.
