Must read

You’ve probably experienced running out of lipstick or blush in the most inopportune moments and you’ve most likely made do with what you have only to feel frustrated as you step outside your home, feeling incomplete. This sounds horrible to those who have never stepped outside their home without their makeup on. If you want to avoid this situation or those instances when you need to retouch your makeup only to find out that you left your other bag of beauty items at home, then having some lip and cheek stains with you will help you look your best.

But why bother buying lip and cheek stains when you can make them on your own? This is actually a good DIY practice for those who want to reduce their spending when it comes to makeup. Try these recipes out for size.

Beet cheek and lip stains

You don’t really have to buy separate cheek and lip stains because you can mix them in one product. In this recipe, you only need to use three ingredients and these are castor oil, beet powder, and shea butter. You will need 1 teaspoon each of these three ingredients. Place the shea butter and castor in a small glass measuring cup and place it over simmering water until it melts. Add the beet powder while stirring until the ingredients have been combined. Pour it in a small jar and allow to cool. You can use this mixture for six months.

Coconut cranberries lip and cheek stain

Another recipe that is worth trying out is the coconut oil with cranberries lip and cheek stain. The combination of coconut oil and shea butter adds moisture and firmness to your skin. The presence of beet and cranberries give color. Start by melting 2 tablespoons of organic coconut oil in a small saucepan then add tablespoons of freeze-dried cranberry powder and half a teaspoon of beetroot powder. Allow the mixture to stand for 40 to 50 minutes or more to allow the oil to infuse. Allow the mixture to cool until it is warm. Strain the oil over a container and use it a spoon to press down on it. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of shea butter and let the oil cool down for a few minutes. Transfer the mixture into a small jar with a tight fitting lid then store in a cool place. If you want to use it, just dab a small amount on your lips and cheeks.
