Skin care should be part of your daily routine especially when you want to maintain beautiful and age-free skin. The problem, however, is that most people assume that taking care of their skin is going to be difficult and expensive. Yes, there are plenty of anti-aging creams and what nots out there but you need to have a good skin care routine in place than just using whatever skin product you see. With that being said, there is a skin care regimen that has been approved by dermatologists that you might want to start with.
Wash your face
The first thing that you need to do is to wash your face using a mild cleanser. You can use your hands for this part of your skin routine because washcloths can be too rough for the surface of your skin. Scrubbing your skin too hard can cause irritation which can make your skin break out in acne or rashes. A gentle cleanser can help remove any dirt residue so your skin will feel refreshed.
Apply sunscreen
You will need to apply sunscreen too as part of your routine as you will need protection against the UVA and UVB rays being emitted by the sun. Dermatologists recommend that you choose sunscreen that has high SPF or have broad spectrum protection so that, aside from providing your skin with a protective barrier, it will have good coverage too.
Skin medications
If you are using skin medications, you should apply it too. Spot-on treatments are good for drying up any pimples that are starting to crop up. This is important as it will help reduce any swelling on your skin. The redness can also be reduced significantly.
Wash your face
At the end of the day, you shouldn’t forget to wash your face. You will need to remove the makeup that you have worn as well as any other dirt or oil that may have clogged your pores. Use your mild cleanser again to help remove those stubborn dirt. It’s important that you do this at the end of the day because you want your skin to feel clean and refreshed before going to bed.
Apply retinol
At this point in your skin care routine, you will need to apply retinol. Retinol is an anti-aging ingredient that can prevent wrinkles and other signs of aging from appearing. It can help make your skin appear brighter too and you won’t have to worry about seeing any premature aging too.
Moisturize
The last part of your routine is to moisturize. Moisturizing your skin before bed time gives your skin enough time to absorb the hydrating properties of your moisturizing product which can help prevent dryness and dullness of your skin.
Eye creams
Since the skin around the eyes is thinner compared to the rest of the body, you will need to make sure that they remain plump and firm. Fortunately, there are eye creams that can be used both day and night which can help keep the skin around the eyes. Don’t be shy to use a lot at this point especially when you are already seeing a bit of lines and wrinkles.
Exfoliate
Another thing to consider as part of your skin care regimen is to exfoliate your skin at least once a week depending on your skin type. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells that are building up on the surface of your skin. When you exfoliate you are encouraging new skin cells to appear so that you will have smooth and young looking skin afterwards.
