Stomachaches are very normal and can happen to anybody. In fact, most people experience way more complex gastrointestinal issues such as bloating, reflux and constipation, so that means that there is no reason to feel embarrassed. Stomach distress is just part of a humans nature, and if your gut is telling you that you need to visit a toilet, you should probably listen to it.
Here are some of the most common stomach pains and how you can overcome them:
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)- Irritable bowel syndrome or IBS can usually be a mixture of diarrhea or constipation. Sometimes it is often hard to identify, but if your movements seem to be off for more than a few days, it could just mean that you are encountering constipation. IBS is usually accompanied with abdominal pains and change in the form; frequency and color of you’re your bowel movements. If you are experiencing these kinds of symptoms it is best that you visit a doctor for better diagnosis. It is hard to diagnose yourself when it comes to these kinds of stomach movements, since IBS can be misread as normal forms of constipation or diarrhea. Doctors will prescribe you with medication to get your bowel movement under control, in rare cases some doctors will also recommend to refer you for colon cancer screening as a precautionary measure to ensure that you do not have any serious cases of this disease.
- Acid Reflux – Acid reflux is that feeling you get when you feel like your food is stuck up the end of your chest, and have a hard time swallowing. It Is actually a burning sensation that you can feel in your stomach walls and upper abdomen or chest. Acid is often caused by citrus drinks or food, spicy food, or through lying down too quickly after a heavy meal. If you are the acidic type, this will feel worse if you have had nothing to eat and tried to ingest alcohol, preferably hard drinks while on an empty stomach. If these problems persist, and if even with the use medications make the pain worse or unbearable, make sure to visit your doctor immediately.
- Indigestion – Indigestion is also one of the most common stomach ailments found especially in women. Symptoms of this could include bloating, pain, or the feeling of throwing up after ingesting a heavy meal regularly. But, these problems can be easy to treat and can be treated with OTC medications recommended by your doctor. If you are experiencing indigestion, it is quite normal for you to keep going to the doctor, however if it is very hard for you to restrain yourself from going to the toilet, or from at least holding in your human excrement from going out before you reach the toilet, then that should be a cause for concern. Indigestion should never last for more than a week or more than a month, if you are experiencing the symptoms mentioned above then it would be a good idea to bring yourself to a hospital. Do not self medicate yourself when you think there is something wrong with your body, because it could lead into something else if you take the wrong medications by mistake or on purpose.
Stomach problems can be annoying, which is why you need to visit a doctor when you start to experience these problems immediately so that you do not get into a bigger problem.
