A Guide for a Girl’s Oily Skin

Must read

Having trouble with your oily skin? You are not the only one who has to deal with that shiny sheen to your face after a few hours. And those acne breakouts? Well, we understand what you are going through. You see, having oily skin means that your oil glands are producing a lot of oil which can leave the surface of your skin look like you can cook food on it already. This is embarrassing at times especially when your makeup starts to melt late in the afternoon. What can you do to stop your oily skin from taking over your self-confidence? Here are a few tips that you should try.

Scrub your skin

Exfoliating is an important step to follow when you have oily skin because you need to remove excess dead skin cells that are found on the surface of your skin. When the pores of your skin are packed with dead skin, this can lead to acne, pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. The best way to eliminate this problem is exfoliate your skin once or twice a week but make sure that you scrub your skin gently to avoid damaging and irritating your skin.

Cleanse

Never ever go to bed without removing makeup and other dirt, oil, and sweat that are lingering on the surface of your skin. If you don’t, the pores of your skin will become clogged and can become irritated too which is something you don’t want to see the following day. When your skin is irritated, it can lead to acne breakouts that will make you feel worse especially when they pepper your forehead, cheeks, and chin. When looking for a cleanser, choose one that is appropriate for oily skin as you don’t want to use a cleanser that has harsh chemical ingredients in it because it can strip the natural oils that your skin is producing.

Face masks

It is necessary to treat your skin with a face mask every week to help reduce the amount of oil that your skin is producing. The good news is that there are several face masks that are already pre-made that you can use for your skin. You can also make your own face mask using Bentonite and Kaolin clay, Fuller’s Earth, and others. These ingredients are actually good for your skin because they have the ability to draw out excess oil on your skin.

Use a toner

Oily skinned women must use an alcohol-free toner on a daily basis as this can help remove any excess oil and impurities that are lingering on your skin after you wash it. You can use rosewater to help keep your skin dirt and oil free or look for drugstore brands as long as they don’t have any alcohol content in them. Alcohol can be harsh on your skin and can exacerbate the problem too.

Moisturize

Just because you have oily skin, it doesn’t mean that you should be skipping out on the use of moisturizer. As a matter of fact, you really need to make it a habit to moisturize your skin because you need to prevent your skin from drying. You see, when your skin becomes dry, your sebaceous glands will be working over time to keep your skin moist hence too much oil is being produced. Fortunately, there are non-oily moisturizers that you can use for your skin.

Sunscreen is important

Never step outside your house without applying sunscreen first. The harsh rays of the sun can actually make your skin dry which, in turn, can cause more oil to be produced on your skin. Go for higher SPFs as much as possible to give your skin the protection it needs.
