Use This Natural Recipe for Your Eyeshadow

Must read

Lipstick? Check. Lip balm? Check. Concealer? Check. Eye liner? Check. Eye cream? Check.

These are just some make up essentials that can be made at home with some stuff you can get at the kitchen. Little did probably know that you can also add eye shadow to that list. What makes this new information is that all ingredients in this recipe are natural. Cool right?

Get ready to save $40 and get rid of that eye shadow brand you get from the store through the recipe below.

Ingredients

Shea Butter

Nutmeg (optional)

Arrowroot Powder (if not available, use tapioca flour or cornstarch instead)

Allspice (optional)

Dried Beet Powder (optional)

Turmeric (optional)

Materials

Small Bowl

Spoon

Container For Finished Product

Directions

  1. Place ½ teaspoon of the arrowroot powder in the bowl. Add more arrowroot powder according to your desired look. Just know that the more powder you place in the bowl, the more subtle and lighter the eye shadow will be.
  1. Mix thoroughly any of the spices/powders so you will be able to get your desired color. You may experiment but some ingredient combinations have been pasted below to guide you as well.

Pale Pink:

1/2 tsp. arrowroot powder
1/2 tsp. dried beet powder
1/8 tsp. cocoa powder
1/4 – 1/2 tsp. shea butter

Mauve:

1/2 tsp. arrowroot powder (commercial but you may also use finely-ground dried beets)
3/4 tsp. allspice
3/4 tsp. dried beet powder
1/4 tsp. cocoa powder
1/4 – 1/2 tsp. shea butter

Light Brown:

1/2 tsp. arrowroot
3/4 – 1 tsp. cocoa powder
1/4 – 1/2 tsp. shea butter

Golden Brown:

1/2 tsp. arrowroot powder
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 – 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/4 – 1/2 tsp. shea butter

  1. After mixing, add in the shea butter and by using the back of the spoon, “cream” the butter in with the powder against the bowl until the mixture becomes soft, powdery and creamy. The powder must be fine so if you see any lumps in the mixture, flatten them using the back of your spoon. Make sure to do this well so that the concoction would stay and hold on to your eye lids.
  1. Keep the mixture inside a small sealed container or in your makeup palette. Make certain that different shades of your homemade eye shadow will not mix with each other.
  1. Use a small brush or your finger tip to apply just like the regular eye shadow.
