5 Golden Rules to Having Beautiful Hair

Must read

When it comes to our hair, we’re all wishing one thing and that is to have beautiful and healthy hair all the time. This is one of the reasons why we often do hair treatments, hair masks, and other hair care steps to ensure that we will always have that shiny, and vibrant hair on our head. But sometimes, even with the entire hair care regimen that we are using, we end up with dull and brittle hair. It is understandable that you will find this confusing and frustrating at times, after all, who would want to have their hair lose their natural luster? Well, the good news is that taking care of your hair can be boiled down to just five steps. Stick to these and you won’t have any trouble with managing your hair at all.

Don’t wash your hair every day

It is understandable that you love that nice and clean scent to your hair hence the need to take a bath on a daily basis. Unfortunately, our hair is not made to withstand the chemicals present in our shampoo and conditioner which is why the natural oils that our hair and scalp have are often stripped away because of this habit. Experts recommend that you wash your hair 2 to 3 times a week only or go longer between washes depending on the type of hair that you have.

Skip the hot showers

Another thing that you should take into consideration when it comes to hair care is to lessen the number of times you take hot showers. Too much heat can actually cause your hair to dry up which can lead to hair fall and brittleness. Taking hot showers regularly can strip your hair of its natural oils hence they become brittle. When you shampoo your hair, make sure that you shampoo your scalp instead of the ends of your hair. The suds will flow down to your hair when you rinse so they will still get taken care of.

Towel-dry hair before conditioning

This depends mostly on the type of conditioner that you are using for your hair but if you want to give more nourishment and moisture to your hair, you need to towel-dry your hair first. Removing excess water from your hair makes it easier for the conditioner to penetrate your hair strands where it can work its magic. Be gentle when toweling dry your hair to avoid breakage.

Brush hair two times in a day

Keep in mind that your hair needs to be brushed twice a day so you won’t go through your hair with your fingers and snag a hair strand or two along the way. Brushing your hair in the morning and before going to bed will keep your hair shiny, healthy, and free from tangles too. When your hair is still wet, use a wide-toothed comb rather than a brush so as not to damage your hair. Don’t be too rough when removing excess water from your hair as it can damage the strands too.

Reduce use of styling tools

Who doesn’t want to look amazing when you step outside your home? Most women have a styling tool or two on hand so they can try out different looks as needed. Well, this isn’t surprising given that there are days when we feel we would like to have curly or wavy hair then the next we want it sleek and straight. Unfortunately, too much use of these heating and styling tools can damage the cuticles of our hair which is why they end up looking brittle and dry. As much as possible, skip the use of styling tools or if you can’t, apply a heat protection serum on your hair before using it to minimize the damage to your hair.
