How often should you exfoliate your face and your body?

Must read

What is exfoliation? It is the process of eliminating dead skin cells at the surface of your body. When you exfoliate, the tiny and sand-like particles in your face wash off, helping to get rid of the dead skin cells and exposed new ones. This leaves your skin healthier.

For your face, it is recommended that you exfoliate at least twice a week. But if you have sensitive skin, you can do it once, as it might cause some skin irritation. But if you live in a warmer climate or you have oily skin, you can exfoliate more than twice a week to get rid of dead skin cells.

Health experts say that you can exfoliate your body at least twice a week. If you have sensitive skin, you can do it less often. While scrubbing your body, remember not to scrub too hard. This is to avoid removing healthy cells. Rub gently and in circular motions.

Over-exfoliating can do your body more harm than good. Exfoliating scrubs can sometimes be too harsh for your skin, so use a chemical exfoliator containing salicylic or glycolic acid. But use this once a week only and avoid using them near your eyes, as this area does not need exfoliation.

You can opt to use a regular body wash or an exfoliating scrub. For extra burst of energy, you can try salt scrub which can help the blood flow to your skin to make you feel good and better. But always remember that whatever you use to exfoliate, your skin will benefit from it. Just don’t exfoliate more than necessary. Just twice a week is fine.

You can use an exfoliating scrub, or just combine a regular body wash with a loofah or a washcloth. For an extra burst of energy, try using a salt scrub, which could help with blood flow to your skin and make you look and feel better. Regardless of what you use to exfoliate, your skin might be better off. Just don’t overdo it. A couple of times a week is plenty — anything more might irritate your skin.
