How to Fix Dry and Frizzy Hair

Must read

Frizzy hair is often caused by lack of moisture but humidity can also play a part. What happens to your hair is that it loses its moisture throughout the day which is why, by the afternoon, your hair appears frizzy. You may comb your hair or use serum to tame your wild looking hair but there are other, more effective steps to take, to make your hair look amazing. Here are some examples of quick fixes for dry and frizzy hair.

Don’t forget the conditioner

Like it was mentioned before, lack of moisture can cause frizzy hair to occur which is why it is important that you apply conditioner as much as possible. This way, the moisture will remain locked in your hair strands to prevent the cuticles from opening up. Choose a conditioner that has glycerin and other hydrating properties like shea butter as well as coconut oil and apply from the middle of the hair strands to the edges.

Use coconut oil

If you are tired of having dry and frizzy hair all the time, you should get your hands on some coconut oil to help strengthen and moisture the hair roots. What’s great about coconut oil is that it can penetrate your hair deeply so that your hair will remain soft and properly moisturized. You can add 2 tablespoons of melted coconut oil in a cup of rose water with 3 to 5 drops of lavender oil then mix. Transfer the solution to a spray bottle and spritz on your hair. You can also warm some coconut oil then massage it on your hair and scalp and leave it on for 10 minutes or so. Wash afterwards with your regular shampoo.

Hydrate once a week

You should also use a hydrating hair mask at least once a week to fill up any holes that your hair strands have. There are plenty of commercially made hydrating hair masks to choose from but opt for those that contain glycerin and hydrating oils as much as possible.

Avocado helps

Avocado is one of the best sources of vitamin E that your hair needs to remain soft, smooth, and healthy. This fruit can help hydrate your hair to avoid frizzy edges. Simply mash a ripe avocado and add a tablespoon of olive oil in it. Stir the contents thoroughly and put it aside. Wash your hair and let it dry for a bit. Apply the avocado mask all over your hair and leave it on for half an hour. Wash afterwards with cold water and condition as you always do. Repeat this step until you get the desired results.

Always brush your hair

Most of us don’t have the time or the luxury even, of taking care of our hair as much as we want to. We just run a comb through our hair a few times then we are done. If you want to fix your dry and frizzy hair, make sure that you comb your hair regularly. This lets the natural oils from your hair get distributed evenly to keep your hair strands properly moisturized.

Try apple cider vinegar

Another trick to fixing your dry and frizzy hair is to use apple cider vinegar. The acidic nature of apple cider vinegar actually brings balance to your pH levels so that cuticles of your hair will remain closed for a smoother and shinier finish. Mix equal parts of water and unfiltered raw organic apple cider vinegar in a small bowl and use it as a final rinse for your hair. You should repeat this solution 2 to 4 weeks and you’ll see a huge improvement on your hair’s overall condition.
