Common Weight Loss Mistakes that We Do

Must read

We all have desired to shed a pound or two or three even at one point in our lives. Most of the time, we opt to follow fad diets in the hopes that we can slim down quickly just in time to squeeze in that tight outfit you’ve always wanted to wear to an event or that skimpy swimsuit you want to show off in the beach. Whatever reasons we may have to wanting to lose weight, the problem is that we keep on repeating the same weight loss mistakes over and over. However, not all of us are even aware that we are making these mistakes too. Here are some examples of usual weight loss mistakes that we should avoid as much as possible.

Consuming too many or too few calories

There is a common misconception that in order for us to lose weight, we need to reduce the amount of calories that we consume everyday. For years, we believe that reducing our calorie intake by 3,500 calories per day can help us lose a pound of fat per week but recent studies show that the reduction of calorie intake is different from one person to the next. Eating too many or too few calories can be detrimental to your weight loss goals which is why it is always a good idea to learn how to portion your food and that you report exactly the amount of calories you’ve consumed in your diet notebook.

Improve your routine

Just because you consider yourself as an active person, there won’t be any need to push yourself beyond the usual activities. However, if you really want to burn some serious calories, the best approach would be to improve your fitness routine. Short bursts of intense workouts can challenge your muscles while boosting your body’s ability to metabolize the nutrients that you have consumed.

Opting for “diet” foods

Everyone of us has fallen into the weight loss trap called “diet” foods. Think diet sodas and low-fat foods which actually pack quite a lot of sugar in them that you are not losing anything in the process. It is advisable to eat foods that are minimally processed or organic ones as they are packed with nutrients that will fill your belly up without adding plenty of calories in your system.

Do your research

Now that you are in your weight loss journey, you shouldn’t limit your knowledge to what you prepare in the house but also when you dine out. Before you try a restaurant, do your research in advance. Look at their website to see if they can provide you with nutrition facts about the food that they serve so you will know what to get that will suit your weight loss plans.

Not enough protein

Another mistake that many of us mistake when trying to lose weight is not getting enough protein in our system. Keep in mind that protein can help make your belly feel full longer and can even assist in keeping your cravings at bay.
