Acne breakouts are always a bother for many of us that we tend to have an over-the-counter cream or ointment on hand to take care of the zits that pop up one too many times. The good news is that you don’t have to rely on these ointments alone because there are other solutions available like the ones that you can make on your own.
Making your own acne gel is always promising because you have complete control over the ingredients that you are going to use. If you want to soothe the pain away and reduce inflammation, try these recipes out.
Soothing Acne-Fighting Gel. In this recipe, you will need 2 cups of filtered water, 15 drops of tea tree oil, 15 marigold flowers, 1Â packet of vegetable gelatin, and 4 teaspoons of vodka. Start by boiling the water first, then put the marigold flowers in a bowl and pour the water over it. Allow the flowers to steep for half an hour. Mix the flowers and water in the blender for 30 seconds. Strain the solution using a cheesecloth. In another bowl, mix the gelatin with 2 tablespoons of filtered water. Slowly add the blended mixture while stirring to blend. Add the tea tree oil and vodka slowly and blend. Make sure that you remove any clumps. Transfer the gel into 4-ounce pump and use it on affected areas to help soothe any breakouts that you are suffering from.
DIY Acne Gel. Here is another acne gel that you can make on your own. You will need 5 tablespoons of aloe vera gel, 10 drops of tea tree essential oil, 20 drops of lavender essential oil, 1 to 2 drops of cinnamon essential oil, and air tight glass container. The steps are relatively simple. Get a bowl and put the organic aloe vera gel in it. Afterwards, add all the essential oils included in the list of ingredients then mix them well. Transfer the gel in an air-tight container. This mixture can keep for up to 20 days. To use this acne gel, you will need to clean your face with a facial cleanser first. Soak a clean towel in a bowl of hot water. Remove excess water from the towel and place it on your face for a few minutes to help open the pores. Apply the gel that you have made so that the oils can penetrate your skin better to heal from the inside. You can follow this up with a moisturizer to seal in the moisture in your skin once the acne gel has already been absorbed. You can repeat this two or three times in a day. Take note, however, to do a patch test prior to using this recipe as you might be sensitive to a few ingredients.Â
