Following a ketogenic diet sounds like a great idea especially when you want to lose weight as it requires you to cut back on your carb and protein intake while raising your consumption of foods that are high in fat. This doesn’t mean that you will have to let go of carb and protein completely because you can still add a small amount to your diet. The goal of the keto diet is to bring your body into a state of ketosis, where your body burns those extra fats to give you energy. This helps you shed weight in the process. But for those who are following this diet, finding meals to try can be extra challenging, especially when you are constantly on-the-go. Fortunately, these breakfast recipes will make it easier for you to stick to your diet first thing in the morning.
Keto breakfast hash
In this recipe, you will need a medium sized zucchini, ½ small white onion, or a clove of garlic, a tablespoon of freshly chopped chives or parsley, 1 large egg, ¼ teaspoon of salt, a tablespoon of coconut oil or ghee, and 2 slices of bacon. Start by finely chopping the garlic or onion then slice your bacon. Sweat your onion on medium heat before adding the bacon. Make sure that you stir the ingredients all the time until they are lightly browned. Dice the zucchini into medium sizes, then add it to the pan. Cook for about 10 to 15 times. Remove from heat then add parsley. Top this with your fried egg and avocado toppings.
Sheet pan eggs
To make this breakfast, you will need 12 large eggs, ¼ cup of chopped chives, ½ cup of chopped mixed bell peppers, and salt and pepper for taste. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit then grease your 12 x 17 baking sheet using coconut oil. Get a large bowl then whisk the eggs and salt and pepper until you create froth. Add the chopped chives and bell peppers then pour the mixture onto your pan. Bake this for 12 to 15 minutes.
Bacon wrapped avocado fries
You will need 2 avocados and 20 strips of bacon that are pasture-raised. You will need to preheat your oven first to 425 degrees Fahrenheit then link your baking sheet using parchment paper. The next step would be to remove the pits from your avocados before you slice them into thin strips. Wrap a strip of bacon on each slice of your avocados then put on your baking sheet. Once you are done, bake them for 25 to 30 minutes. Let it cool before serving.
Ham and egg roll ups
For this recipe, you will need 10 eggs, kosher salt, 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 cup of baby spinach, 20 slices of ham, 2 teaspoon of garlic powder, freshly ground black pepper, 1 ½ cup of shredded Cheddar, and 1 cup of chopped tomatoes. Heat your broiler first. Get a large bowl then crack the eggs over it. Whisk the eggs with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Place a nonstick skillet over a medium heat, then melt your butter. Add the eggs so you can scramble them while giving it a stir every 3 minutes. Add the cheddar until melted then stir in the tomatoes as well as baby spinach until everything is combined. Place two slices of your ham on top of a cutting board then add a spoonful of the eggs then roll up. Do this with the rest of ham and eggs. Broil afterwards for five minutes.
